Lemon squares -- (from Tante Simonne)

BASE:2 c all-pupose flour
½ c granulated sugar
3/4 c softened butter

FILLING: 4 eggs
2 c granulated sugar
1/3 c lemon juice
1/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder

BASE: Combine flour and icing sugar in mixing bowl. Stir well to blend. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press into greased 13 x 9 inch cakepan. Bake @ 325°F for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.

FILLING:Beat eggs, sugar, lemon juice, flour and baking powder together until smooth and light. Pour over partially baked crust. Bake @ 325°F for 25-30 minutes or until set and golden. Cool. Before serving sprinkle with icing sugar and cut into squares.

Makes about 4 dozen squares.
